The excellence of the performance is matched by that of the recording ; it manages to be very clean and forward, without deterioration towards the end of the inevitably rather long sides. An unreservedly good recording of this piece was coming to be an urgent necessity; I believe that few listeners will have any reasonable cause for disappointment with this one.
